DUST OFF THE COBWEBBS

Iownaturbo dusted off the cobwebs for her trainer Alan Goodhand.
Although it was the three year olds fifth career win Goodhand couldn’t establish when his last winner was as a trainer!
“You will have to look in the archives” joked Goodhand with word that it may well have been back in 2005 that he trained his last winner!
Recently retired Goodhand decided it was time to take up the challenge of harness racing once again and what better way than with one that you have bred.
“It feels pretty good. I have retired from work now and just play with the horses. It’s a hobby – we are just having fun and that’s what it’s all about”
“She was the only Tamworth horse that won the other day” added Goodhand.
Alan Goodhand bred Iownaturbo with the three year old Passmaster Hanover-Baybimbo filly undertaking her previous racing out of Bathurst.
“We sent her down to Steve Turnbull to train and they won four races with her” added Goodhand.
“She won the last two year old of the season and her next start she won the first three year old of the season”
Iownaturbo has now had 15 starts for five wins and five placings with Alan Goodhand having now had the filly back home for three starts - all at Tamworth - for two seconds before the win.
Some may have felt it was the “good old days” with reinsman Michael Grima taking the drive behind Iownaturbo.
“It was the old Goodhand and Grima team again – Michael has got nice hands” added Goodhand.
“Her mother [Baybimbo] won a heat of the Golden Guitar at Tamworth (2004) and this is her third foal – this has been the best one and she is a nice filly”
“She has still got a little bit to learn – but she is a gate speed horse” added Goodhand.
For reinsman Michael Grima it was also a case of a welcome return to the winners circle with his last win being back in 2012 with Western Impact at Tamworth where he handled both the training and driving.
“Not much has changed – I haven’t been doing that much driving” stated Grima.
“I actually drove the fillies mother [Baybimbo]” added Grima who himself has been keeping his hand in chasing “some slow ones” while working as a Supervisor at a local mine.
“The horse (Iownaturbo) runs the same run each race – she has got plenty of ability but has to learn how to settle in a race”
Grinear Girl (Maddie Young) and Iownaturbo rocketed out of the barrier as one before Iownaturbo crossed Grinear Girl racing up the home straight on the first occasion in the 1980 metre race.
“There was a bit of a burn at the start before I got the lead” added Grima.
Iownaturbo continued to lead the field into the home straight on the final occasion holding off late
comers with a neck win over Lifeontopofdeworld (Josh Osborn) and Mac Sweet (Julie Weidemann) a
head away third.
“Looking at the early sectionals I wasn’t confident of the win but when she settled I knew I would get
home – we were expecting a win – she has been building to it”
Iownaturbo covered the 1980 metre journey in 2.02.1.
