RISING STAR BRAD ELDER
Brad Elder had plenty of practice at the Tamworth meeting driving three winners before heading to Sydney to represent the Hunter Valley in the 2016 Rising Star Series.
The 18 year old was looking forward to the series alongside local Sam Ison who was set to represent the North West.
Elder had three wins at Tamworth for three different trainers.
"I don’t come up here real often but do good when we do" said Elder of his Tamworth campaign – which gave him his first winning treble at the Paceway.
Elder took his first drive for Dapto trainer Neil Shaw behind Kenfury Lass who won the Lounges Plus Two & Three Year Old Pace by 6 metres over Lets Play Ball (Lola Weidemann) and Cmon Gimme Me Five (Anthony Varga)
"It was a tough run - draw 10 and push through to find the chair - but she stuck on well and really dug deep" said Elder.
"Neil (Shaw) is a good trainer and does well with his horses. They are always around the money"
Kenfury Lass (Kenneth J US-Safe Fury) came into the 1609 metre event at Tamworth off a last start win at Young – five days prior.
"She has put two races together now so that is good" added Elder who then hopped into the spider for Worrigee trainer Greg Coney behind Grinear Girl.
The Grinfromeartoear-Infinite Dream four year old produced an impressive 24 metre win over Mac Sweet (Lola Weidemann) and Aces First (Sarah Rushbrook)3.9 metres away third.
Grinear Girl led the field and just kept increasing the lead.
"She went pretty good. I was going to just sit outside of them but then she hit the font. She felt good in the lead"
"The first quarter separated them out pretty much" added Elder with Grinear Girl clocking 1.57.8 for 1609 metres.
"I will be hoping for a treble later in the day" added Elder after the second win for the day "that will make it real nice"
Elder then stepped up behind Miss Art Ranger for the Mitch Faulkner stables from Uralla.
"I think she has got a few more wins left in her yet" said Elder "I’d be happy to drive her again"
Miss Art Ranger had a 1.5 metre win over Pay On The Pacer (Dan Morgan) and Im Mached Out (Peter Missen) in taking out the Kel Penfold Finance Pace.
"It’s always exciting to drive three winners but they were all good horses which makes it a lot easier and a bit of fun" said Elder
"I’m done for the day now" said Elder "That was pretty good" said Elder
