VARGA WINS ON BIRTHDAY by Julie Maughan

The win of Mitrhys Magic was possibly the best way reinsman Anthony Varga could have chosen to celebrate his 27th birthday!

"I think the run at Maitland topped him off nice" stated Varga when he returned to scale at Paceway Tamworth.

Mitrhys Magic came into the Johns Auto Service Pace off a second to Captain Rockey at Maitland the Sunday prior over the 1646 metre distance.

"He came back to a bit more distance tonight" added Varga.

With a barrier draw of four Mitrhys Magic went straight to the lead and was never headed to come away with a 4.6 metre win over Anna Bay Al (Stacey Weidemann) and Mister Skye Rocket (Lola Weidemann) 1.7 metres away third.

"I knew if he could sit up for a while he would come on home" added Varga of the Ifihadyourluck-Scoot On La Belle gelding which is raced by Varga’s parents - John and Noelene.

Varga’s father John was also the sponsor of the race – the Johns Auto Pace.

"That is the second time Dad has sponsored a race and the second time we have won it" with Varga working at the family owned business.

Not only was there belated birthday celebrations but Anthony Varga also celebrated being awarded The Pub sponsored Drive of the Night!
