EMARGEE WINS THE JOAN BULLOCK MEMORIAL by Julie Maughan
Emargee had an all the way win in taking out the Joan Bullock Memorial at Tamworth on Sunday evening in what looked like a comfortable win but for trainer and reinsman Ricky Gordon he had to defended the victory in the Stewards room.
When Emargee shifted out down the home straight it allowed Rocknroll Annie from the Weidemann stables to take an inside run over the concluding stages.
It was a relief for Gordon when the Stewards gave the all clear and the Queenslander was happy to celebrate – especially after driving seven and half hours from Marburg to contest the feature race.
"I felt confident coming into the race – we had a good barrier draw" added Gordon.
"She run to the line well" stated Gordon of Emargee "she held the horse off on her inside who was trying to get an unfair advantage"
Emargee had a 1.2 metre win over Rocknroll Annie and Shadow River (Daniel Morgan) another metre away third.
"She is an honest performer without being a champion – it’s was good prizemoney and a lovely rug to go with it" added Gordon.
Emargee is more at home at the Albion Park Paceway with the Four Starzzz Shark – Dee Flyer six year old mare collecting her third win from 39 race starts and 14 placings.
Is That So and Rock Till Ya Drop gave trainer Hunter Valley trainer Clayton Harmey and reinsman Nathan Carroll a winning double at the Tamworth meeting.
Is That So was making it back to back wins in taking out the TAB.Com.Au Pace while Rock Till Ya Drop made it three wins on the trot in taking out the Northern Daily Leader Pace.
