Daniel Morgan had a great result at Tamworth on Sunday night – well it was Great Result that handed him the winner.
The young Hunter Valley reinsman accepted the drive behind Great Result for trainer Craig Clegg and the Bettors Delight-Two Mums eight year old mare produced her fifth win for the season in taking out the Vale N.J. "Billy" Barraclough Pace (1609m).
“She is a nice little sit and sprint horse and did that tonight” said Morgan who also received The Pub sponsored Drive of the Night for his efforts.
“I had to drive for a bit of luck but she got the job done”
Live Christian (Graham Moon) headed the field while Great Result raced three back on the inside running line after commencing from the six barrier.
“About the 400 I could see the gap opening and I thought this is beautiful as she has got real quick speed at the 200”
As the field rounded the final turn into the home straight Morgan raced four wide to power down the home straight for a 1.6 metre win over Miss Art Ranger [Mitch Faulkner] and Gotta Feeling [Sam Ison] 5.4 metres away third.
“It is good how she handled herself in the race – I was pretty confident” added Morgan.
It was the second occasion that Daniel Morgan had driven Great Result to a win at Tamworth.
“It’s good to come up here to Tamworth for winners” added Morgan who will have to wait until October 2 when the Tamworth Club resumes racing again.
Great Result had a mile rate of 1.59.2 for 1609 metres and returned $53.60 for the win!
