It is a long while since Norm Soles was in the winners circle but it was Chariot Duchess who put the Duri trainer back in the limelight after taking out the TAB Rewards Pace and repaying punters $28.90 for the win.
"I have only had her back for three months as I have had her racing up in Queensland" said Soles after the win by the Armbro Operative-Social Babe 4yo mare in the 1609 metre event.
Young Tom Ison donned Soles race colours of black, white diamond and red sleeves and took the reins behind Chariot Duchess.
Soles spoke highly of the junior driver after the win.
"He did a very good job" said Soles of Ison "He did exactly what I wanted him to do".
Tom Ison sent Chariot Duchess straight to the lead from the two barrier, dictated terms out in front and came home for a 1.9 metre win over Machofdistinction (Craig Clegg) and Cockys Fancy (Julie Weidemann) another 11 metres away third.
"I had my first drive on the mare last Sunday to just get a feel of the horse" said Ison "We did have hopes for a win"
"He has been a good horse for me" said reinsman Nathan Carroll after the win of Blacks A Buzzin in the HRT 2015 World Driving Championship Tour Competitive stakes (1609m)

With My Late Best Mate (Peter Hedges) and Feelgood Tonite (Peter Missen) leading the field, Pepperall (Lola Weidemann) and Blacks A Buzzin joined in on the home turn, with Blacks A Buzzin placed four wide.

"He has been working okay" was the response of Julie Weidemann after Dreamy Nukes won the Northern Inland Credit Union Pace at Tamworth on Tuesday afternoon.

Fivestar Willy (Peter Missen) led the field with Dreamy Nukes racing out in the breeze but down the home straight was a battle between the two for a win.
Dreamy Nukes had a 1.5 metre win over Fivestar Wally (Peter Missen) while Seelster Reign also trained by Weidemann was 10 metres away third and driven by her sister Lola.
Dreamy Nukes covered the 1980 metre journey in 2.04.1
Kootingal trainer Sarah Rushbrook enjoyed watching the win of Aces First in the TAB.APP Competitive Stakes but instead of taking the reins elected to engage junior driver Scotty-Jon Welsh.
"The luck was with us today" said Welsh after the win "but the horse was honest"
"He was unlucky last start but the idea was if we got shuffled back to try and go forward early in the race" said Welsh.
"He is just a plugger and you have to drive him accordingly" added Welsh.
With Vicars Retreat (Brett Bates) leading the field, Welsh sent Aces First three wide around the field as the bell sounded to go on for a 1.5 metre win over Flyingwithoutwings (Chris Shepherdson) and Passthehataround (Maddie Bond) another metre away third.
Scotty-Jon Welsh also gained The Pub sponsored drive of the Day.
The Equine Inn Competitive Stakes saw Sissies Beach Girl enjoy the luxury of the pole position in the 1609 metre event going straight to the lead and never headed.
The Jennas Beach Boy-Sissies Double mare had a 4 metre win over Rockamah (David Rabbett) and Village Xibbit (Jamie Bond) a nose away third.
"This is the first time she has drawn the one barrier" said reinsman David Munsie after the race "and she held her own and did it fairly well"
Trained by his father Peter at Uralla Sissies Beach Girl a seven year old mare has had eight starts this season for two wins and three placings.
"She went well" added Munsie.
Kates Attitude has been showing the promise of a win in her last few starts and much to the delight of reinsman and trainer Brendan James the win came through in the Hazells Farm & Fertiliser Services Pace (1609m).
"When she let down she got going" said James after the win "I knew I had to get going before Major Deed (Cindy Rippon)" said James.
James saw Major Deed as the threat in the race and read proceedings well as Kates Attitude had a narrow win of half head over Major Deed and The Muse (Craig Clegg) another 4 metres away third.
"I thought we had got beaten" said James "it was that close at the finish"
"I gave her a freshen up after her last start so I think that helped today as well" added the 23 year old.
Rockstar Ruler wrapped up the days racing with yet another gutsy win in taking out the Racing Here Xmas Eve Pace.
With Double Barrel (David Munsie) and Rockstar Ruler (Chris Shepherdson) level pegging for the entire 1609 metre journey Rockstar Ruler lunged on the line for the win.
The win for the Art Major-Bunker Buster horse followed on from his last start win at Tamworth back on November 27.
"He ran well" said Shepherdson after the win with Rockstar Ruler trained by his uncle Peter Shepherdson at Narrabri.
"He is only a one bat horse but he tries all the time" said Shepherdson.
"He doesn’t like the turns but he makes up for it down the straights and he is a better horse if he gets the sit"
