Gottaluva Sunday wins Vale Margaret Ford Pace 4th February 2016 by Julie Maughan

Gottaluva Sunday made light work of taking out the Vale Margaret Ford Pace.

From the pole trainer and reinsman Mitch Faulkner was waiting for some pressure to be placed on the four year old mare but she was left alone out in front producing quarters of 31.8s, second quarter 30.3s, third quarter 30.1s and fourth quarter 29.6s.

“They all wanted to go back in single file for about half a lap” said Faulkner of the field who were all racing in Indian file “It’s a bit hard when there are ten horses in the race and they only wanted to go single file”

“I just didn’t want her (Gottaluva Sunday) to come out and fire up but she came out nice, settled and done it pretty easy in the end. Very happy with the run and I didn’t have to pull the plugs on her”

Gottaluva Sunday (Gotta Go Cullect-New York On Sunday) is lightly raced and was having race start seven to produce her second career win.

“She is going along nice” added Faulkner “the last couple of weeks over Country Music we met with better horses from down south. We run into a really nice three year old of Nathan Hurst - Blazing Brax – and finished second to him twice over the carnival but I was happy to break through with her”

“Bart Cockburn fiancé Megan Armour owns her so hopefully the mare will win a few races for them”

Faulkner who lives at Uralla just outside of Armidale has produced four runs out of Gottaluva Sunday after her move across the border from Queensland which has seen two seconds and a win with Faullkner looking forward to a feature race next week.

The Joan Bullock Memorial is an $8,000 race for C0 to C1 mares.

“We take her one week at a time but we will aim for the Joan Bullock Memorial next meeting here and she should draw well as a CO”

“The Joan Bullock Memorial always attracts some nice horses so it will be another test for her” added Faulkner.

In the 6.1 metre win over High On Dreams (Josh Osborn) and Kool Kenny (Phil Allen) a neck away third Gottaluva Sunday clocked her fastest mile rate to date with 2.01.0.
